Abstract
Noma is a disease of dramatic onset affecting young children who are often ill nourished and who are recovering from a serious illness, usually one of the eruptive fevers.
It is charaterized by a well-demarcated gangrene affecting the gums, oral mucosa and soft tissue of the face, often associated with extensive destruction of the skin and the bony skeleton.
We experienced a case of Noma in 8 year old male child who was suffered from malnutrition with bacillary dysentery.
There were well-demarcated gangrenes over the lower lip on the left side and the dorsal surface of the right first toe.
A literature was reviewed on this subject.
